Wise Equine Veterinary Services

Brittany was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba where her passion for horses became evident at a very young age. Between working as a riding instructor, trail guide, horse trainer, or polo groom she was sure her career would involve horses as well. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Winnipeg and received her DVM at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in the spring of 2011. It was here that she met her husband Waylon Wise; a fellow student at the time, now owner of Nagel & Co Veterinary Services and Cow/Calf Health and Management Solutions in Crossfield, AB. Following graduation, Brittany completed a 1 year internship at Energy Equine gaining much experience from Dr. Chad Hewlett in equine lameness. She became an associate veterinarian at Energy Equine, went on to oversee the breeding operation at O’Bray’s Equine Services and enjoyed gaining additional experience in all aspects of equine practice and equine dentistry. In July 2015, Brittany founded Wise Equine and joined the team at Nagel & Co. Veterinary Services. Since then she has led the expansion of the equine division. She loves all aspects of equine practice but has a special interest in lameness and dentistry. When not at work, you can find her on the back of a horse either on the polo field, jumping around a cross country course or working cattle.

Mina was born and raised in Alberta where she obtained her Animal Health Technology Diploma from Olds College. In her last semester, she completed a practicum with Energy Equine where she began working with current Wise Equine veterinarian, Dr. Caroline Budziak. While Mina’s love for animals has been evident from a young age, her passion for equine sports medicine and ambulatory care initially sparked after her first exposure to chuckwagon and chariot racing over 12 years ago. Since then, Mina has been motivated to work with both the equine athletes and their owners, to ensure the health and safety of all parties, as well as promoting sportsmanship within the equine sports community. Outside of sports medicine, Mina has a soft spot for sassy miniature horses and ponies, as well as a growing interest in neonatal care. When not working, Mina spends most of her time outdoors with her dog, Monty, partaking in the many activities that the Alberta Rockies have to offer.
